Ben and Marina head off to their old stomping ground, the wonderful Madrileño barrio of Lavapies, for a look at how things have changed since they lived in a flat on Calle Lavapies over 3 years ago (as described in Ben’s Errant in Iberia). If you are ever in Madrid and want to take a look around the neighbourhood, the leafy terrace bars on Calle Argumosa are a great place to start.

These sound-seeing tours are among my favourites of your podcasts. I think it’s all the ambience we can hear, the voices in the background, the birds, etc.
    Great stuff! Thank you

I really enjoyed listening to this podcast. It is so atmospheric that for a little while I was transported from Glasgow to Madrid – fantastic! As a vegetarian I was pleased to hear about the restaurant. Thanks very much,

Hi Marina and Ben, I really liked this podcast! Great to hear the old guy in Lavapies speaking too! I was at the restaurant Baisakhi on Calle Lavapies, 42 about 6 weeks ago and it was great. The food very good, and for a tasting menu “menu de degustacion” it was just 15 euros, which also included 2 drinks and dessert.
Looking forward to more neighborhood podcasts!
    Janelle
