el mundo map

El Mundo have switched to Google maps for their street finder service, which, in hybrid mode, maps steet names onto sattelite photos of Spanish cities and towns. Little red arrows even tell you the direction of traffic! So, for ten points, which town have I zoomed in on above? Image © Google.

I have to give the credit to the Spaniards in the family for that one! Fantastic picture, what an amazing use of technology.

It really is, I have been playing around with it for a bit – looks great on coastal towns with the waves lapping the shore!

I use google maps a lot, sorta scarey in a way that there is that much info out there, but also they never have the detailed maps for the places I wanna go.. :(

I was actually amazad at how much detail they have for Spain. Though I haven’t checked the smaller pueblos yet…

Yeah, it’s the same everywhere in the world. Glasgow has great detail, but Larkhall only has the main backbone of the town. It makes sense to get the level of detail up on the big cities before moving onto the smaller towns, but I want to be able to zoom in on my house! :)

    Comment from a friend:
There are fairly low definition images covering just about the whole planet, but there are also high def ones that provide an impressive level of detail and Villas del Duque is now included in those. For example you can not only clearly see our former neighbour’s white car parked in the street but also that he had left its door open
    Keep trying Alan!
