This week’s Spain links…

South of Watford has filled an important gap in Wikipedia, providing an interesting history lesson.

Rod wonders why he feels more at home in Spain than at home in the UK.

The Guardian takes us from Ajo to Zamora.

Our sponsors, holidaysinspain.com are running a photo competition via Flickr with big hotel discounts for entrants and winners.

Dan needs help planning the perfect 30 day trip to Spain in the forums.

Amy reminds me of the terrible nervous tension one feels when on the verge of leaving everything behind for a new life in Spain. Pop over and wish her luck!

Question: do you find the weekly link round-up interesting/useful?

Hi Ben, I don’t really find the blogs that interesting. I guess I am an avid reader of the online Spanish press so I maybe see things (or try to) from the Spanish side as to the expat side. However, I used to really like it when you covered, or brought to the attention of your NFS blog readers, news items that you wanted to highlight. I sometimes would see something that caught my eye and sure enough you’d post it on the blog too. It was nice to know that there was someone on the ground in Madrid who could give an angle on the story. You’ve not done that so often over the last few months at least. Is that a time thing or a change of tactic for NFS? If it is a time thing of course I understand totally. This isn’t a criticism, NFS is the only non-Spanish site I visit btw.

    All the best,
    Andy

As one of the bloggers listed, I’m biassed as well, but I find the links very interesting/useful. NFS has almost become the hub of a network of other blogs and websites, encouraging their growth through directing traffic towards them and (hopefully) receiving a bit of traffic back. For me NFS is exactly what blogging should be about – community-building as well as creating great content.

But anyway it’s not an either/or question. I like the mix of different types of item on this blog. Let’s continue to have the weekly-round up, the tapas reviews, videoblogs, photos, updates from Dave on Spanish celebrity news, and yes, items on stories in the Spanish news.

I think the round-up is fabulous, especially when it cites my blog. Plus I never go on roller-coasters either.
