You are quite inspirational. Your adventure seems like the kind that would be captured by the Discovery channel. You have a great speaking voice in both languages as well. Did you ever do radio?

No doubt, there are people who *could* cross the peninsula by bike in six days. I could cross the peninsula by car in a day and a half, or fly from Bilbao to Jerez in about an hour, but what would be the point? I wouldn’t see anything, I wouldn’t have a chance to explore Spain and I wouldn’t have a chance to stretch my legs and discover all those places I’ve heard about but never made the time to see.

There are lots of opportunities for people who want to participate in hammerfests and crank out lots and lots of kilometres; the Real Federación Española de Ciclismo is more than happy to find events for those cyclists. But there are a lot of cyclists, both here in Spain and abroad, who would like to have a route that would allow them to travel by bike and discover Spain.

Whenever I ride my bicycle here in Arizona [everyday that is] and I go for groceries or something at a WalMart people never fail to ask me “where are you from” so instead of giving a European [caucasian] country I tell them from what town I was coming.

As people know that this is 10 miles away they go: “You have been riding your bicycle all!!! the way to here ? [with a distinctive look of incredulity in their eyes] meaning to say: No one rides a bike for 20 miles !!

If you are really slow on your bicycle you do 150km a day [slow I said; about 20hm/h].

Otherwise it would be up to 250km/day.
Equals to six days for the trip.

Will they be walking their bikes to the southern coast ?

Actually, that was part of the joke of the name. Every time I’d tell Spanish people that I liked travelling around Spain on a bike, more often than not, the first thing out of their mouths was something like, “Are you crazy?” So the blending of “cycle paths” and “psychopaths” was more than a little intentional…and it makes the name even more memorable!
