Notes from Spain started slowly in March 2005, and since then, according to this wonderful WordPress blogging software, there have been 736 posts and 5,582 comments, with, I hope, plenty more to come!
Many many (many!) thanks to all of you who keep reading and joining in. Without the encouragement, feedback, and occasional abuse, we would probably have stopped long ago!

Happy Anniversary !!!.
I’ve been regularily following since I learnt about the site due to an interview that you had in Cadena SER radio network.
That was in the summer of 2005, wasn’t it?.
Congratulations!

I left the uk for the wilds of Extremadura in Jan 05 and returned in the August to find a new website that imformed me of all aspects of Spain rather than a website of ex-pats forever ‘banging on’ about how Spain is not the same as the UK.It felt good to hear of people enjoying their life in Spain and passing on their wisdom &experience so i take my hat of to you both for perservering with the site. Thanks to you both for teaching & entertaining me also a thanks go to all the contributors.Wishing you both all the best for the next few years.Bring on the controversy, jeje!

Ben, what do you think your life would be like if you were still in Oxford? I’m a newbie but I really like the website and forum.

@mcark – I often wonder the same thing, what would life be like if I’d never got fed up with London and fled? Who knows! Maybe VS is right, there would be Notes from England and Notas en Ingles!!

Congratulations!
I discovered Notes From Spain only recently, but I have become addicted. This is a great site and a very positive way to bring two – and more – cultures together.
Wish you both all the best!

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! We’ve officially been ‘fans’ of NFS since July of 2005, the month we returned from our first trip to Spain (and fell in love with the country) and somehow came upon the blog. It’s amazing how much your website has grown and it’s an inspiration to keep going with ours.
Have a big glass of wine and cheers this fabulous occasion!

Congrats Ben & Marina.
This is a wonderful website and a constant source of inspiration to stick with my spanish inspite of my errr lazyness.
This is a great community of folks in this website. I truely appreciate it.

This is, without doubt, the best blog on the net!
I discovered NFS just after my first visit to Spain. That was (just six weeks shy of) three years ago. So NFS has been my constant teacher of all things Spanish from my first tentative visit to the Madrid resident I am now.
I can’t express enough how much the blogs, the forum and the podcasts have have helped and enriched my Spanish experience.
Thank you so much.

Well done, you fully deserve your success. I think the best part of this blog (and the forum) is the ease of contributing to it.

NFS has played a big part in my decision to move to Spain (and for once, I’m not exagerating!). It’s helped my Spanish come on in leaps and bounds (and trips and stumbles! jeje). It’s a superb resource and deserves all its success.
PD. And don’t forget that in Spain, when it’s your birthday, it’s YOU who buys the drinks for everyone! (Could be an expensive round with all the NFS followers there are these days!)

Hola Ben Y Marina
Feliz Cumpleaños !
….really enjoying the podcasts, what a great way to learn Spanish and Spanish culture.
Me gusta los podcasts y creo que es un buen opportunidad de aprender espanol y la cultura española.
Also Marina’s accent is perfect to listen and get the correct pronounciation !
También, el acento de Marina es perfecto para hacer pronounciation correcto!
I am looking forward to discovering all the other podcasts through Intermediate, up to advanced.
(apologies for any errors in the written Spanish)
Muchas gracias
