And here is something for Jose (aka Valenciason). As requested, Chorizo a la Sidra, delivered here in a fantastic Sidrería we’ll be mentioning in an upcoming podcast, with a side of fried egg and chips/fries. Heaven!

Thanks Ben! I look forward to that podcast and having more of that fantastic chorizo a la sidra. Oh yeah, the video looks nice too.

The beach is nice, but I had a bad experience there. Me and my wife went there by car, and the road is awful. About five hundred meters going down in a very narrow, unpaved, very steep slope down, twisted road. Lots or cars parked on the side, space for one moving car at time only. You may guess what happened, yes, a car going up in the opposite direction. So I had to move up backwards to the previous curve (my poor clutch). And them walk down hundreds of meters to the beach (and walk up hours later, my wife was pregnant at that time). Awful.

So my recomendations: Wake up early (VERY) early if you don’t want to walk down a bad road under the sun. I said EARLY.

You can also park up the road, but prepare for a long walk down, and after you enjoyed the beach remember you have to walk up that road again.

If you go other day of the year with less people it could be nice, but you have to grab the few sunny days you have in Asturias. The whether in Asturias is… well you should know.

And last, Asturias has plenty of beautiful beaches, you can enjoy any of them without suffering painful situations.

That beach does look really nice Ben. Never been to Asturias but we’ll be going up there next year.

Hope you’re having a great time.

If it wasn’t for the chorizo a la sidra I would’ve guessed that that was Prussia Cove in Cornwall, which I love almost as much as chorizo a la sidra (from Casa Mingo). To have both together is perfect.

Come on Ben, everyone knows Spain’s best beach is in Galicia, off the coast from Vigo on the beautiful Islas Cies!!! ;)

@Brnedan, but does that beach have a bar half way up the cliff that serves sidra and fabada… honestly, it may be hard to drive down to, but this beach is the best!

Wherever you go along that coastline – Cantabria, Basque Country, Asturias, Galicia – you will find superb landscapes and beautiful beaches. Plus amazing local produce and seafood. I’ve been several times (as per my link) to Oyambre beach near Comillas, and never failed to be entranced. Yes, you’re almost sure to see some rain if you’re there for some time – in this respect it’s similar to Cornwall. It just makes it more beautiful when the sun reappears.

@Ben, ok, sometimes the best beaches have to bow to sidra and fabada…
