What does a “blogger” take on holiday?
by Ben Curtis
The above may appeal to the odd Geek out there. Marina and I are off for a few days to the Costa Brava to practice our Catalan and, as usual, can’t afford to leave the tech behind!!

The old Nokia looks well out of place… especially when you could blog directly from your new iPhome (when you get one)

Man, I need to start a serious website or podcast, as of now I don’t have an excuse for all the crap I tote around.

the old nokias are apparently great, though! they just don’t make phones with that kind of battery life anymore. enjoy your trip–hope you can disconnect a little!

@ Katie - the secret with a modern phone is to turn off all the stuff you arent using - my iPhone was getting through a charge in 12 hours til i…
turned off the wireless cos i wasnt using it
turned off bluetooth - ditto
turned off 3G - ditto
stopped it checking for email every 15 mins
sropped it phoning home to mobile me and syncing as often
its a bit like having a house - you only need lights on in the rooms youre using (unless you’re father is paying the bill apparently)
I can get a couple of days out of my iPhone easily now, and the apps are great, the gps is great, the video is good when you are stranded at an airport for 17 hours!
worth the tradeoff i reckon

I’ve got an Acer Aspire One mini laptop for travel-blogging. Great bit of kit!
