If they didn't, it's an awful good fake.

Incredible, if it's true! Now-a-days it's hard to believe that this could happen, then again, it's hard to believe that anyone would let you burn a Papermaiche puppet in a downtown neighborhood either!:o

Todavía no entiendo la relación entre el robo de este silla y las protestas contra el hambre y la pobreza en el mundo; me parece un poco surrealista y absordo. En mi opinión, las acciones de ONGs como Greenpeace son mucho más logicas.

The stunt was over the top, so it got more attention than you might get with other methods. It was certainly creative.

The motto of this campaign, is "Levántate Contra La Probreza" (Stand Up Against Poverty), and the note that the actors left in the fake Zapatero's desk said "Zapatero, el 16 de Octubre en Pie Contra la Pobreza" (Zapatero, on the 16th of October, Stand Up Against Poverty).
IF he doesn´t haver a chair, it is obvious that he must be standing up.
This spot was made by BBDO, a publicity agency from Barcelona, and the promotor (the BBDO's client) is the UN.
The impact has been huge with minimun costs and effort, almost everybody has heard about it now in Spain, and they haven´t paid a single euro to introduce the spot in the traditional media (TV, radio, newspaper). They just uploaded it in You Tube as if it was a real act of burglary, and the newspapers, tvs and radio soon talked about it as if it really happened (it was not shown in the commercial breaks, but it the main news programmes.
I think this has to be one of the most original, successful and efficient piece of an ad that I ever saw in recent times.

Agreed and the fact that the chair had arms at times and none at others doesn't matter a bit!
Pity the ad makers weren't allowed to make the TV programmes, they might just be more interesting.

Ah, OK! Thanks for the explanation. :)
