Andalucía is wonderful. Somehow, it's the most 'exotic' place in Spain to me. I haven't been to Córdoba or Seville yet!

People get he impression that Andalucía is only about the Costas, but I think everbody forgets the Sierras too, some of which, from photos I've seen, look beautiful.

Have you read 'Driving Over Lemons' by Chris Stewart? He lives in the remote and mountainous Alpujarra region of Andalucía with his family. Ben and Marina interviewed Chris a while ago and you'll find this podcast in the Notes from Spain section. Very interesting!

Very hard to say Ben as Andalucia and Spain have such a wide variety to offer. The main aspects that we like are the contrasts that you experience when your travel.

Contrasts like ...... las playas bonitas y las cuidades llena de cultura
....el descanso en el campo y la excitacion cuando se ve el flamenco..... que maravillosa !

I guess we will always have Sevilla high on our list and because Sevilla had so much to offer, we never made it to Cordoba ..... of course that gives us a good reason to go back again though ..... ja ja ja :D

The spectacular photo at Ronda also shows a contrast ..... muy tranquilo abajo el puente pero demasiado tourismo arriba el puente.

We are totally in love with Spain (as you may have noticed already) and are planning the next tour already.

Edith....

I read "A Parrot in a Pepper Tree" also by Chris Stewart recently whilst on holiday in Sevilla. It was particularly good as a section of the book refers to Chris learning to play flamemco guitar in Sevilla. It was most appropriate as we went to a couple of flamenco shows and they were great.;D

How are you getting on with the Ipod? I bet you have all of Ben and Marinas podcasts on there now......... I listen to them every day on the train whilst going to work. Its great practice to hear spoken spanish every day.

We are big fans of Andalucia, normally get there 3 times a year, in fact just got back last night. 8 days of perfect weather! For me, the costas have been ruined, and we steer well clear of there, in fact the best way to see it, is from the new motorways as you bypass them! We have spent time in Granada, Ronda, Sevilla,Córdoba, Málaga and loads of smaller villages scattered around the province.
There's load of photos of Andalucia here (http://www.pbase.com/abwhitt), the majority are lower down the page.

I'm able to use it now, although I've still got some problems with its finer intricacies, but I'm really great I bought it! And yes, I have downloaded Ben & Marina's podcasts as well as some other ones.

Yesterday, I had to go to the hospital and while I was waiting I listened to three podcasts... normally I hate waiting since I can't really concentrate on a book in a waiting room, but now I could spend one whole hour on my Spanish! Great, isn't it? I listen to the podcasts on the bus as well.

Don't mean to be off-topic, but it's a wonderful language-learning tool. I would recommend purchasing Replay A/V (http://www.applian.com) so that you can program your PC to download streaming video/audio and import it into iTunes for later synching. It's a great tool, as I use it to record RNE every day and listen to it on the commute.

I do the same thing in waiting rooms. Now when someone asks me if I had to wait long, I answer something like - oh no - not too bad, only 2 podcasts (or oh yes, quite a while, about 5 podcasts).

Theres a free app for the Mac called WireTap (http://www.ambrosiasw.com/utilities/wiretap/) that does the same thing.

Just looked - maybe its not free any more but very cheap...

Sounds great... but... is it do-able? (I mean, for people like me?) :D
