I don't agree with Patty as I have spoken with her on skype and she speaks Spanish far better than I do. The only problem we have is the technical side of using skype over such long distances - it keeps fading out - I have much more success using skype within Europe.
I am an English woman of 53 and come from the south of England - so no difficult English accent to cope with. I will try and find you in the other intercambio forum and if you like, will help you with your English.

Well, my accent is not far off Gary's example, but I'm happy to make an effort to suppress it! As I'm here in Barcelona, and my Spanish is going through a rough patch (well, it's always been in a bit of a rough patch if I'm honest!) I'll send a PM to vienmay and get something organised. :)

Vienmay - yes I would like to work with you to help each other with Spanish and English. I speak at an intermediate level Spanish - but speak English fluently. Let me know if you are interested.

;D :thumbs-up: Well I'm originally from Scottish stock so - He kens muckle that kens when to speak, but far mair that kens when to haud his tongue.

sorry forgot about that one.... my point is that in common with most Brits I have a second language that I can drop into when appropriate - when spoken quickly a broad Yorkshire accent can be as unintelligible as any foreign language. Further There are at least 6 different regional accents that are easily recognisable within Yorkshire - Leeds, Barnsley, Sheffield Middlesbro, Hull, Huddersfield can all be picked out by their idiosyncrasies, Scouse, Manc, Brummy are all 'different' in the same way....
