Anyone watching Įguila Roja on TVEi? Is the story based on any actual historical figure? I appreciate it would have to be very loosely based as I doubt martial arts were commonly practised in 17th(?)century Spain.

I would be enormously surprised if it isn't a completely invented tale. I managed to get through the first season on the rtve web site, but as far as I am concerned the series has "jumped the shark", that is, reached a point of such forced implausibility that it is no longer watchable. I have ignored the second season.

Judging by the audience figures, a lot of people disagree with my assessment, though.
