Most of these are from 2003/2004. Not the typical tourist shots, but maybe you'll find them useful anyway.:)

Hi Jessica

Loved the photos - especially the toreador - makes me think of Hemingway's Death in the afternoon- and the one that makes Madrid look like a warzone.

Interesting to note that you spent a semester in Oviedo as I'm thinking of moving there in the new year. Would appreciate any info you have about the city and whether you would recommend spending a few months or maybe a year there.

Gracias

Thanks for the compliments on my pics:)

Oviedo was a very pretty city. Supposedly it won some sort of award for being the cleanest city in Spain. Also, the new princess Letizia lived there, so you'll hear about her a lot. The gothic cathedral is gorgeous and if you walk the streets nearby it at night you will find a pretty crazy nightlife if you're into that. Although if you're looking for more of an avant-garde music scene I would recommend going to Gijon, which is a 20 minute bus ride to the north, right on the coast.

I've always loved the south of spain, so oviedo was a bit too proper and too cold for me. People tend to stay indoors a bit more than down in the south and aren't as outwardly friendly. It's also not as laid back as the south, but obviously still way more laid back than the States, for example.

Overall, I would say that it's a nice city, but there are much more impressive places you could stay in the north. I think maybe you would get bored being there that long. I know I got bored after a couple of months.

Obviously, this is just my opinion. If anyone else can defend Oviedo, please do! I feel bad for trashing their beautiful city:D
