Hey there!!
In such a football country as it is Spain, with maybe the most important domestic competition in the world, I found it strange that no one has pointed out the big game tomorrow at 21.00, at Madrid's Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.
Nothing less than Real Madrid Vs. FC Barcelona, the big "Clásico", arguably the best football game that can be seen in the world at club level.
World's best team of all times (Real Madrid) playing home against World's best team of the last couple of years (FC Barcelona).
Isn´t this also a form of culture?? I think so, hence my post in this thread.
Bets are up, and I'm putting my money on Real Madrid, despite the suspension against Ronaldo, who will not be playing tomorrow at Madrid's attacking line.

I NEARLY got a ticket to go but missed out again :(
Oh well, next year... I think RM will win, they can live without Ronnie.

Tickets must be really hard to get...what a game to go to! I'd put money on RM as well, I think they have more to lose than Barca. Plus, Eto'o is out and Raúl has remembered how to score goals. 2-1 home win.

Not much of a football fan, but didn't Barcelona lose against Chelsea this week? ;-)

Too bad the game isn't on normal TV anywhere. I've found a few Korean video streams that broadcast the Spanish games live. The audio's in Korean, so I mute that and listen to Radio Marca or whatever streaming radio station is broadcasting it.

I imagine I'll watch it a local bar somewhere. Yes, Ashley, tickets are VERY difficult to get hold of, they never really reach the public realm for this game. You need a serious enchufe to get a ticket...

Creo que mañana los culés no lo van a tener tan fácil como el año pasado. El 0-3 escoció mucho a los madridistas y no permitirán que vuelva a ocurrir

Real Madrid bests Barça 2-0. I never got the feeling that RM was in trouble, nor did it seem that Barça ever got off the starting pad.

Econtré esto en internet, no sé si es cierto o no.
‘Cul’ means exactly that, your backside, so in plural the name the Blaugrana (which refers to their strip) supporters endorse is ‘the arses’. The reason is simple, and it stuck. In the early 20th century Barca’s stadium was, reportedly, notable because passers-by could see the rears of fans sitting in the upper stand. Thus the phrase was coined and has now attached itself to the famous institution of FC Barcelona for ever more.

Hi
Omeyas is right. I found a picture that explains where the word "culé" comes from.
Take care
