Anyone watch the new series? I think it's great! It plays on the SciFi channel in the US. Does it play in Spain?

I remember when the original was on TV. And I had the original handheld video game. Guess that tells you how old I am. ;)

I also remember the original. This one is loosely based on the original. It is quite dark and occasionally racy by comparison. The acting, the dialogue, the effects are fantastic. Edward James Olmos plays Adama. Mary McDonell plays the colonial president. Very good entertainment.

There is a spin off to Battlestar Galactica coming next year. It will be called Caprica. It's actually a prequel that takes place 50 years before the Cylon war. :cool:

It's definately the best science fiction on TV. I introduced a few friends to it who never really watch sci-fi and they really enjoy it.
Looking forward to the next season. That was one weird finale.

My girlfriend's brother leant me Battlestar Galactica Season 1 and 2 and the film that sets it all up, and since I work so little, I've watched all of them in the space of 4 days and I'm now onto the 3rd series.
I have to say I was sceptical about it since it was a remake but it honestly is a brilliant show.
The Cylons being how they adds so much to the original story it's great

just finished watching the first season this weekend. It was much better than I expected - the cylons are certainly much more interesting than I remember them. The only thing I don't like is the way they summarise the main events of the episode at the start of each episode which spoils it a little.

Never developed an interest for Lost, maybe I'll save it for my next flu. We are halfway through season of BSG but it won't start until January 2009. PM me if you want to know what has happened so far. I saw Razor as it was televised last November. It is released on DVD. There is also an uncut version but I haven't seen that one.

So, what's your take? Does it appear to you from that trailer that the human race gets further divided between collaborating with the cylons and fighting against them? The trailer gives the impression that Adama and Madame President are going to be on opposing sides.
Also, do you know how many episodes will be in this final season? I see that it is listed as Season 4.5, so that means only 6 new episodes?

I think Bill and Laura will be in the same faction
I think there's bound to be an unexpected loyalty to each of the three factions from different regulars on the series.
I understand there was to be 10 episodes but that got bumped up to 13.
Lets not forget Caprica is on next month.:thumbs-up:

I will definately check it out when it comes out on dvd !!!
I'm too lazy to commit to hourly tv schedules and too greedy for settling with only one episode a week, especially when they use cliffhangers and other dirty script tricks.
In the after-Soprano era, the tv series that I've found most enjoyable is "The Wire (http://www.hbo.com/thewire/)". Amazing.

Thanks, VS, for not going into details - I cancelled my Sky subscription a while back and so won't be seeing any of the new series until it comes out on DVD.

Gotta disagree with you there. Dr. Who rules.
But in all fairness, Edward James Olmos is a great actor and the new series, what I've seen of it, is pretty good. I was a fan of the original and found some of the changes annoying, specifically making female characters that were male.
It's definately the best science fiction on TV...

I do like the updated look of the robotic cylons though and the fact that some versions can pass for humans. It's been nearly two years since I've watched it, so I'm going to have to go out and buy the DVDs to get caught up.

I recently got hold of a DVD package of the first three seasons of BG still unpacked at home, ready to be seen. So far I havenīt seen a single episode (neither on tv nor on dvd) and basically I donīt know what's it about, but I've heard so many good things (in this forum too) about it from people I trust that I think I'm gonna like it.
The thing is I've got a pretty big backlog of dvds to be seen, tv series and movies (not to mention books that are currently taking up most of my spare time), that I donīt know when will I be able to get at it.

So say we all.
I take notice of your advice but, to let you know, without counting the films that I still have to watch, the series that I currently have in my dvd-shelf right now are :
* The Shield (watched season 1 - to watch the rest)
* The Wire (watched season 1 - to watch season 2)
* 24 (watched seasons 1 to 5 - currently in the middle of 6th)
* Lost (watched seasons 1 & 2 - to watch 3 & 4).
* Deadwood (watched seasons 1 & 2) - anyone knows when the third and last is coming out on dvd ???
* The West Wing (watched 1 to 4) - to watch 5 to 7.
* BSG (havenīt watched anything) - to watch seasons 1 to 4.
Taking into account that I watch about 5 episodes per week, it's gonna take long to get on with the list, but I'll follow your advice and after I'm done with season 6 of '24' I'll pop in season 1 of BSG.
Talking about tv series, anyone can tell me anything about these three tv series : 'Weeds', 'In Treatment' and 'Mad Men'. Are they any good???
