I know I said in a recent podcast that I wouldn't start any new websites for a while, but I see so many opportunities to post about Madrid as I wander around the city that I couldn't stop myself! And I didn't want to flood Notes from Spain with Madrid bits and pieces.
So, Notes from Madrid (http://www.notesfrommadrid.com/) is born!
Before launching it upon an unsuspecting public, I thought I would mention it here, as I have a favour to ask. Part of the idea of the site is to include other people's favourite places in Madrid. If you know the city and have a favourite bar, park, street, barrio, hotel, shop - whatever - in Madrid, then I'd love it if you would send me an email (http://www.notesfrommadrid.com/send-us-a-tip/) telling me what it is and why. If you have a photo as well that would be even better. Or just tell me what your perfect day in Madrid would include. The idea is to make NFM a shared experience and I'd love to start with ideas from the us lot here in the forum. I'll post all entries on the new site over the next few weeks.
The contact address to send me your Madrid tips, favourites or ideal days is at http://www.notesfrommadrid.com/send-us-a-tip/
Many thanks in advance for any help!

Does this mean you will have different versions of Notes From, that are specific to cities in Spain? Could the various Note Froms replace NFS or is NFM an independent project? Or maybe you want to see how this unfolds before making any firm plans?

No, it is certainly not our intention to do a notes from every city in spain - but Madrid was an obvious choice for starters as I notice things every day I would like to put on the net which might be useful for others. NFS will carry on as usual!

A challenge to Madrid Man (http://www.madridman.com/) ? I know he has been around for years.
I see he is expanding into Barcelona/Granada/Valencia/Toledo/Segovia Man this year.

ha ha, no not a challenge to MadridMan, Spain is big enough for both of us ;) He has his way of doing things and I have mine. I noticed his march across Spain too, but his content is, IMHO, not so dynamic. I am a firm believer in websites that are constantly updated with fresh content, i.e. blogs, and I get the idea his are a little more static. It may be an easier format to reproduce but not as much fun to my mind. Each to their own!
Pepino, don't worry, I have the domain name you are thinking of ready for a rainy day, I'll call you when I can afford the Winnebago!

Will you do anything to get NFM ready for the iPhone?

Hmmm, not sure... but I may put any ad revenue from the site towards buying one!!

Agree with the dynamic part Ben. Although on my blog would it be worth it to place a few of my madrid pics up there?

That could work well. Look forward to seeing what little hidden places pop up. especialy good bars ;D and tapas that you discover along the way.
So are you going to franchise notesfromXXX? :D
Im sure you were probably going to change it, but the navigation on the right probably needs to be split up like before with ads to the left. Or at least put the navigation first, and then the adds.
my your a busy man...

If I had the business acumen of Richard Branson I'd probably try! But I don't!

my your a busy man...I'm trying this format for now to see how the ad click-throughs compare to those on NFS. I know the ads are a bit ugly, and it's very money grabbing to think like that, but I got to pay the morgage!

I have my Madrid pictures in my own Flickr ID, would it be worth wilde to re-post on the NFM group or redundant?

It would be great if you could add them to the NFM Flickr group. Once you have joined the group, a 'send to group' link appears above your images on the individual image pages, and you just choose the NFM group from the list. Look forward to seeing them!
