I know DSL is available in Spain. What other broadband connectivity formats are available and what are some of the bit rates if known? How does the majority of the populations in Spain connect to the INTERNET at home? What are some the terms used in spanish for network connectivity, etc...?

Most Spanish homes now have broadband adsl access (Banda Ancha), and quite a few are now moving to ADSL2, up to 20 meg connections for around 35 $ a month including free landline calls nationwide - pretty good really! Certainly much better pricing than the UK...
Cable connections are still pretty rare, Wi-Fi is not great in public places, but can be found in a few bars and cafes in Madrid.
