Episode 7 (http://www.notesfromspain.com/399/) is out!!!
In this edition will go through how to prepare this delicious dessert,
which by the way is one of Ben and Marina's summer favourites.

I'll be down to Valencia for the bank holiday, so hopefully I will bring back
some nice pictures to show you and a couple of Valencian cooking ideas

Hola Marina,

Thanks for the pod cast on leche merengada. What happens if one uses skim milk as opposed to whole milk? Will the consistency be too thin?

I hope you enjoy your trip to Valencia. I look forward to hearing about your trip.

Marina, can I request a good recipe for Arroz con Leche? Mom makes the best so I could never get it quite right....

Thanks

Mari

Hola Marina,

Cuando en Valencia, si te encuentras en el Saler, prueba el arroz abanda. Dicen que es el plato mas rico de arroz en Valencia.

There is no problem if you prefer to use skim milk for Leche Merengada, but its possible the consistency will change a little bit, not that much though.

I had arroz abanda last time I was in Gandia, which by the way is one of my favourites way to cook rice. Yesterday I went out for lunch with my parents, my mother's cousin and her husband. We had Arroz Negro - Black rice from squid ink- and classical Paella - chicken and seafood . I took some pics of the paellas and some of the beach for all of you to have a look. Unfortunately, I left the camera with my parents so I'll upload them later tonight.

Gracias Riojana!!!
me encanta saber que el podcast te trajo recuerdos felices de la infancia... hasta el punto de preparar Leche Merengada a tus hijos!!!

As I told you yesterday you can have a look at Gandia pics.
I've creted a separete thread (http://www.notesfromspain.com/forums/showthread.php?t=202) for that if you want to have a look.

By the way I've just added arroz con leche to my list of future podcasts.

Hola Marina,

Beautiful photos of the paellas! I never tried squid-ink paella before. I've had squid-ink linguine but I could never taste the ink or any squid in the pasta. Is it the same with the rice? I'm glad you had a good time in Gandia. Welcome back.

In paella you can definetely taste the ink, some people don't like it but to tell you the truth I think it has more to do with the color than with the taste.
