Jamon Jamon (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0104545/) - fantastic! Though I haven't been very impressed by anything else Bigas Luna, the director, has done.

By chance only Crónicas (http://imdb.com/title/tt0382621/)was on one of our satellite channels last night. Suposedly about a Mexican news crew, based in Miami, who travel to Ecuador to report on the Monster of Babahoyo, a serial killer. Although much was shot in Ecuador the Spanish was from all over the place except the coast of Ecuador where it was set (it's quite a distinct accent)! Having said that I thought it was easy to hear and understand. The opening scenes aren't for the faint hearted....... 6/10

The Heart of the Earth / El corazón de la tierra is a new Spanish film which will be released on April and it's a co-production between Spain and Uk

Plotline is about "the mines of RioTinto (Huelva) run by a British company and the disturbances of the late nineteenth century when thousands of people were involved in the first "environmentalist" demonstration in history".

Paco, i don't know why should anybody be aware of Pedro Almodovar. He is one of the master film makers in the world and acclaimed in many many film festivals. He is not one of my favourites in a aesthetic way but i encourage everybody to try just one of the above mentioned films, won't be disappointed.

I figure out which "famous scene" scotgman is talking about. Something to do with voting? ;D

One of my favourite spanish movies ever is Remando al viento by Gonzalo Suarez. It shows the environment of writer Mary Shelley (Frankenstein) in a poetic way, not historical. Huge Grant performed Lord Byron and in the meantime he met Liz Hurley, who played another role in this movie. But, for me, the best one is José Luis Gómez in his role of decadent and ever drunk proffesor Polidori.

The music they used for the movie is an original piece by -i would say- neo romantical author Vaughan Williams: Symphonia Antartica (don't know if i wrote it right) and it's one of my "musicas de cabecera", lovely and sad as nothing in the world.

By the way, Gonzalo Suarez is the father of Gonzo Suarez, the creator of Pyro Studios (pc game Commandos)

I love Almodovar. His fame in Spain is well earned. Amenabar is a prodigy and I just wish he had more films. As for Spanish actors I'm don't think much of them in fact I have to say theres a decline in good, lovable actors in Spain.

European film (particularly Spanish and French) has spoiled me and I have lost all interest in Hollywood Films with the exception of some good Indie films of course.

Medem is a brilliant director/writer, loved the aforementioned...
Lucia y el Sexo
Amantes del Circulo Polar
also: La Ardilla Roja http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0106305/

From Mexico... Amores Perros and Y Tu Mama Tambien are both epic films. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0245574/

I would definitely second the recommendation of Tésis. Mujeres al borde de un ataque de nervios is my favourite Almodover, it is just so much fun and the score and artwork are fabulous even for him. I also like hisTodo sobre mi madre and La flor de mi secreto and Volver.
Mar edentro contains an astonishing performance by Bardem, I also love the performance of actress who plays Manuela, the sister-in-law. In the director's commentary I learned that she is relative unknown.

Fans of Carmen Maura might be interested an extensive interview with her that you can watch on the Cervantes TV facility available through the Instituto Cervantes website. Carmen is wonderful but the 2 people interviewing her are quite amusing: the woman is slightly disturbingly odd and the bloke clearly besotted. Nonetheless it is an excellent interview with interesting observations on film making and cultural differences between Spain, France and Hollywood.

Ja, ja. (I hope you meant to be funny on purpose.)

They don't sell movies or T.V. on the Spanish store, yet. (20 Sept 2008)

Still just music, podcasts, apps, and games.

You can get a C.S.I. Miami game, though.

Now, at the risk of sounding like the typical, shallow, short-attention-spanned, ADHD, immature, uncultured, naïve, fat, stupid, rednecked, white-trashed, red-blooded, American..

I don't like movies as much as T.V.

If it weren't for torrents of my TV shows, I would be in a mental hospital.
Moving to Spain put me into withdrawals. Broadband WiFi was the only prescription that produced any results.

Blockbuster went out of business in Spain due to the popularity of pirated movies and downloading movies for free via eMule. I doubt iTunes will ever attempt to sell/rent movies and TV shows in Spain because of the eMule factor.
