The Torres Kio in Madrid are said to be a replica of two towers in the US (not sure which came first) - do any of you know where in the US these might be and what they are called? Thanks! Here's a pic:

I can't answer the question re similar buildings in the US but I think that the Madrid buildings came first. The engineers on the project seem to think so:

One of the architects, Philip Johnson, has an interesting past according to his wikipedia entry anyway. Nice link with Spain and dictatorships...

For what it is worth I really like these buildings, for me they are the equal of anything in Madrid in terms of design and engineering. Does anyone know which companies use the buildings now and if it is possible to go inside and look round?

Ben,
I can't say that I've seen such a building in the States at all!

Standing between them, waiting for a bus, you get a really bad feeling they are about to topple. The only others I've ever seen like them are currently being built in Bahrain. I'm not sure I would like to work on the top floor.

Hmmm... now I come to think of it, it may be that I am confused with the fact the Canary Wharf in London has a twin tower in New York... Thanks for your help anyway!

I've never seen anything built on quite that steep an incline here in the states
(well, with the exception of the St. Louis Arch!) But I did find out that the architects responsible for the Torres Kio (or Puerta Europa)
are the same two who designed New York's AT&T tower...
