My wife and I will be traveling to Madrid with couple who are vegetarian. They do eat eggs and milk products but do not eat any meat or seafood. I made note of the restaurant that Marina recommended in the "Favorite Restaurant" thread. Just wondering if anyone has further recommendations?
Thanks,

El Granero (http://madrid.lanetro.com/GUIA/sitios/fichasitio.cfm?CodigoSitio=8764&idtipo=71) on Calle Argumosa in Lavapies is the best in Madrid.

After doing some Google searches for reviews on the restaurants listed in Marina's link, I found a site called "HappyCow's Vegetarian Guide":

The site is in english and has some customer reviews.
Muchas Gracias Marina!
It's great knowing that there are some vegetarian restaurants in Madrid. We are definitely going to try El Granero!

Haha, Can't help you out here, but when I was in Salamanca, my roomate was a Vegan, and my spanish mother(an older lady) could just not comprehend that someone could not eat meat, chicken, or fish...

Let me guess, your spanish mother said "what else is there?".

Pretty much, she didn't know what else to give him other than salad, and she got offended when he pulled out like the soup where you add hot water.

and although most people can't see it, the answer would be "a lot" ;)
i live in a heavily filipino area and none of them seem to understand my being a vegetarian. one day i overheard a filipino woman telling my mom that she should slip meat in my meal one day because "i need protein". needless to say, i wasn't happy about the comment (because my mom isn't supportive of me and i thought she might actually do it), but i knew it was a cultural difference and; therefore, took it with a grain of salt.
