Travelling North and South of Madrid

Hola!

I am currently in Madrid, where I have been living for two months. I am shortly coming to the end of my stay, but before I leave I want to do one week in Andalucia and one week up North in wine country (Logroño, Penedes, etc). I would like some advice on transport, suggested itinerary (North first? South first?), places to stay and visit in both areas. At the end of the two weeks I need to fly back to the UK. And I need to do this quite cheaply!

South - you have to go to Cordoba and see the Mezquita, and then on to Granada if you can. Seville is nice, but has nothing on these two in my opinion.

As for the north, after drinking in the delights of La Rioja, you could do a lot worse then checking out San Sebastian!
