Thanks to all those that reported the spammer who had the nerve to show his face in here. Said user has now been deleted as have all his posts:
:hammer:

Reporting bad posts like this is invaluable as Marina and I cannot always be on top of everything that's going on here (which just shows how busy the forum is getting, which is absolutely fantastic!)

For anyone that is unsure, to report an overtly commercial, offensive, or spammy post, just hit the http://www.notesfromspain.com/forums/images/buttons/report.gif ('report bad post') button next to the post in question, follow the instructions on the following screen, and we get an e-mail telling us what's going on.

Thanks again to those that reported today's spam, let's hope it's the last for a while!

Ben,

Does our board software have the ability to ban specific IP addresses? Might be a great way to keep such types from re-registering under another name....

Yes, it does, if he or any other spammers re-register I'll use that method next time (should have thought of that before I deleted all trace of him!)

Awesome. The more notoriety that NFS gets, the more that those idiotas will show up.

No kidding. I mean, do the e-mail spammers REALLY think that we're going to buy ci@li$ or v1@gr@ from them?

What is cilias?? (Viagra I have heard of, obviously, but despite a million spams, I still have no idea what the other one does!!)

Cialis does the same thing as Viagra. So does Levitra.

Thanks! I imagined it had something to do with all that!

I cut down on spam using the following technique...

Never put a real email into a website unless you need a reply

If I do need to get something back use the catchall email address on my server.

If i must enter an email address into a site that I think might be dodgy I use the sites name as the recipient eg amazon@myemailaddress.co.uk

If the site passes the address on to the spammers you can see which address is being used and black hole it at the server.

I too can exclude by IP address but the pro spammers use rolling IPs that continually change

Works for me...
