Hi,
Bare with us as we fiddle with the main menu across the top of the page again... I have tested this on a pc with Firefox, Opera and IE, hopefully things should look like the two screenshots attached below, (click to enlarge) i.e. no strange effects, like the menu bar going onto 2 lines etc.
Do let me know if things don't look right on a mac, linux etc! Thanks. Ben
P.S. The forum colours will also change at some point soon to match the new menu bar colour.

The menu under the logo image, on the normal WordPress pages, has an additional pixel between it and the logo above.
(Firefox 1.5.0.4, WinXP)
This is from where you (well, wordpress) have used the two <DIV'>s
<div id="wrap">
<div id="header">
<table align="center" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="760">
<tbody><tr>
<td width="760"><a href="http://www.notesfromspain.com/"><img src="http://www.notesfromspain.com/wp-content/themes/wp-andreas01/images/front.jpg" alt="" border="0"></a></td>
</tr>
</tbody></table>
<div id="nfsmainmenu">
<ul>
<li><a href="http://www.notesfromspain.com">Home</a></li>
<li><a href="http://www.notesfromspain.com/notes-from-spain/">Notes from Spain</a></li>
<li><a href="http://www.notesfromspain.com/cuisine-from-spain/">Cuisine from Spain</a></li>
<li><a href="http://www.notesfromspain.com/notes-in-spanish/">Notes in Spanish</a></li>
<li><a href="http://www.notesfromspain.com/forums/">Forums</a></li>
<li><a href="http://www.notesfromspain.com/books-and-film/">Books etc</a></li>
<li><a href="http://www.notesfromspain.com/about/">About</a></li>
<li><a href="http://www.notesfromspain.com/contact-me/">Contact</a></li>
</ul>
</div>
</div>
If you look above, the space(and newline) between the two closing </DIV> tags is probably the reason for that.
I've had numerous little annoyances like this with Firefox.

Thanks deecree, this has been annoying me all morning, but I think it is fixed now. I asked on the wonderful sitepoint.com forums (http://www.sitepoint.com/forums/index.php?) and was told I was missing this in the css: #header img{display:block;}
(The problem was being caused by the image somehow, but I have removed the linebreaks you pointed out too).
Is it fixed now for you too?
All I need now is to see it on a mac (or know it works ok on a mac).

Looks fine now. :thumbs-up:
If I remember, there are several people here who have access to a Mac, I'm sure you'll be told soon. :cool:

Could always use some 'product assessment' time on this:

Ben,
The design looks fine in Safari(v1.3.2 on panther) though I have been hearing the apple has screwed up Safari on the Tiger, don't know much about that. But back to the point it looks great, this will make it a ton easier to access all the different parts of the site

i know you said you'd already tested it on IE, but just for another opinion...
i view this forum with IE on my mom's computer, a standard dell home computer, and my grandma's widescreen laptop and the layout looks great on both! ;)
(i say this because a lot of times layouts can show up different or get distorted on a wide screen)

Marbella, what an amazing product! I have checked the new design on every platform and browser that's come out for the last 2 years and it only goes slightly off on Linux Fedora core 4 with Opera 8.5... which I think I can live with!
Thanks to the rest of you two for the input:)

Excellent! I did some work recently for a big company and they used them (cheaper than setting up their own x-browser testlab).
Browsercam is a smart idea - wish I'd thought of it! :)

<tongue in cheek>
Be careful that there are no complaints from the likes of Neil - you are blatantly commercialising your website by using it to advertise your book!;)

This Neil guy will probably be living off the land right now as a homeless peasant... Surely, paying your bills is supporting the evils of capitalism?>:D
Perhaps he is living on a commune somewhere? Do you get potato-powered computers?:rolleyes:

Matbe he could do a podcast about an obscure form of stick fighting practiced by the ancient fishermen of the eastern seabord of the Iberian Peninsula?
...Big Issue anyone?
