View Full Version : Opera and Football

In October, I will be vacationing in Madrid for eight days. One thing I will be doing is attending a performance of opera in the Teatro Real. For anyone who has been to the Teatro Real, would I have to wear a coat and tie? I would much rather just wear some nice slacks and a nice shirt (maybe with a tie) to avoid having to pack too much. And besides, my seat is way up there in nose-bleed heaven where I won't be noticed too much.
I also want to see a soccer game. But according to the schedule on the website for Real Madrid, there are no games during the week of October 10 through 17 while I am there. Are there any other soccer (futbol) games in Madrid during that week?
Any help with these two things would be greatly appreciated.

That's unfortunately timed for the football. That week there are no La Liga games because the national team are playing in the European Championship qualifiers in Denmark. :(

Thanks for the reply, Rod. I guess that's a good excuse for me to plan another trip to Spain later. I really want to see the Real Madrid team sometime.
Your blogsite is wonderful, by the way. Great narrative and pics!

Thanks very much for your comment, Palmerito ;D
'I have to go back because I didn't get to see Real play' sounds like a great reason for returning to Spain :)

If you go any other time and Madrid are playing away, you could always go and watch other decent teams in Madrid, like Getafe or Rayo Vallecano. If you're hard up, there's always Atlético. ;D;D

Unlucky with the football, no games for Madrid, Atleti and Getafe. I ahd a look and even Rayo (2b) are away that week.
If I may hijack the thread slightly, a few friends are visiting Madrid in December and want to go to Madrid-Racing. ANyone know what the current situation is regarding buying tickets for the Bernabeu?

For that match I think they'd be OK going to the ticket office the day they arrive.
