I'd like to welcome you to this space, created for all of us to share our spanish food experiences.

If you want to add a new recipe, or variations to other ones listed, if you have any requests for future podcasts or want to tell us about a wonderful restaurant you discovered on your last visit to Spain, don't hesitate to write a post. I'll be delighted to help you... if I can ;)

it certainly is. I think it might be similar to what us brits call caramel custard.

The custard I think that this custard is more solid and sweet.
Here is the recipe for Flan:

1. Melt sugar to a honey color then invert into a french corning ware mold and spread the melted sugar along its surfaces until completely covered. Allow to cool until hardened.

2. In the meantime put the following into your blender:
a.) 1 can of evaporated milk
b.) 1 can of condensed milk
c.) crack into it 6 whole eggs
d.) add 1 Tbs. of liquid vanilla
Blend all of these ingrediants until fully mixed.

3. Pour contents into the sugar coated mold.

4. Place the coated mold into a pan of water, that covers at least 3/4 of the outerside of the mold. Place both molds (this is called "Bano de Maria") place in the center of the oven at 350 degrees for approx. 1 Hour. Or until content is not longer liquid.

5. Turn off the oven, allow the mold to cool in the water. Then place the inner mold with the flan content in the refrigerator. Allow to cool overnight.

6.) Invert into dish that allows sufficient circumference to allow the flan and addition syrup to flow freely.
Serve and enjoy, enjoy and serve.:D

Is that the same as egg custard? I hated that at school.

I think the egg custard is sweeter and more solid if you will. At least the Egg Custard I had in London seeemed that way. This one is softer and is a great desert when you have company and you want to give them something different. PACO
