Does anyone know 'Ana y los siete' by Ana Obregón? It's a TV series about a rich widower, his seven children, and Ana, the nanny, who also happens to be a working as a'n 'estríper' / 'showgirl' in the Chicago night club. I'm asking because the dialogues in this series are quite hard to follow - especially when the children are talking. Or is it just me? ¡Cuéntame por favor! :)

I don't know this program. What station carries it?

By the way, here is an interesting downloadable radio drama (much less adult however)

"La Historia de Quién Soy"

Thanks for the link! I will bookmark it, so I can listen to it during the next couple of weeks. Since I'm not watching the Mundial, I've got loads of time to listen to these podcasts! ;D

Ana y los siete is both a sitcom and a telenovela. It's not 'adult'; on the contrary, the program is rather innocent because it's mostly about children. Even though Ana is also a 'showgirl', she loves the old-fashioned family life because she has never had a family of her own (she grew up in an orphanage run by nuns). She loves her employer's seven children to bits, especially the youngest daughter. And of course, she and her employer develop a love affair even though they appear to be on opposite sides of the social spectrum. Fernando Hidalgo comes from a family of rich Spanish bankers and he is a conservative workaholic who barely relates to his own children. His wife died of cancer a couple of years ago and he left the education of his offspring to his live-in maid and mayordomo. He has also got a tendency to fall in love with the wrong kind of woman, like his co-worker Alexia (the 'zorra' type), who turns out to be Ana's mortal enemy and rival. The dialogues between Ana and the kids are great for your listening skills. I like Ana Obregón's rapid-fire Spanish even though I don't understand all of it yet. The twin boys are the best because they are such endearing little rascals who flaunt all adult conventions. They even resort to using dog poo in order to get rid of their father's lover Alexia, whom they hate. Of course the series is not very highbrow, but it's simply great for your listening skills. I actually think some of the telebasura churned out by TVE is a lot worse than this series! Ana y los siete was broadcasted by TVE and it's also available on DVD:

Sounds and awful lot like Fran Dreschler's The Nanny, which ended about 5 years ago.

A dreadful show in its own right. Her laugh was enough to wake the dead.

I have never seen that show, nor heard about it. (even though most American TV shows can be seen here in Holland)

"Ana y los Siete" was a great success, specially because it was focused for all age audiences it had the children bits, but also Ana Obregon who despite being about 45 is one of the most well known Spanish sex symbols so that is what gets daddys attention.

LOLOLOL, this reminds me of Goldie Hawn and 'Private Benjamin', which is one of my American favorites... on the other hand, I'll keep appreciating the dialogues in Ana y los siete since they are great for my Spanish. :)

With regard to Ana García Obregón, the link below goes to an article penned by herself in the El Mundo magazine supplement from I think a couple of years ago.

http://www.elmundo.es/magazine/2004/255/1092326660.html

It's a great read, in Spanish, as she writes about one month of her life as she is on the move. Detailing how the Paparrazzi hound her, how her private life is a little like living in a goldfish bowl, etc. Definately worth printing out and spending a little time to read. I read it and thought it was an excellent article.

Apparently Miss Obregón wanted to "Bend it Like Beckham". See http://www.hispamp3.com/noticias/noticia.php?noticia=20051216075004

Miss O. looks more like she's 55, not 45.

Ok, I may have just made a breakthrough for all you US people. I have tried a few of my dvds that are region 2 on my roommates x box and have found that it plays them without a problem. Perhaps it acts like a multi-region dvd player.
