Looks like I'll be moving with my family to be in Madrid for 2 years from the US from January 2008, and the first big decision is get our 2 boys (ages 5 and 7) into a bilingual elementary school in Madrid. The boys have very little Spanish....just a few words. We've done some web searching etc....but I could do with some guidance on both what to look for, or specific recommendations. We have found a couple of interesting bilingual schools that spend 50/50 in English/Spanish. That seems the best way to get them up-and-running quickly, without making the transition too painful. Is that the best way to transition children to a new language?
Anyone have feedback to provide?
Thanks,
Alan.

My partner worked in a private school in Madrid called Kensington which I think she said was in a district called Pozuelo. She's worked in a couple of Spanish schools since then and still thinks Kensington was the best organised etc.
Also the British Council is running a bilingual project with Spanish state schools. My guess is there will be something about it on their website. That's what my partner is working on now over in Ciudad Rodrigo.
