Greetings!
My husband and I embark on our move from the US to Spain next week (yay!) and we're currently in the process of packing and figuring out how everything's going to get there.
We're flying Aer Lingus to London (visiting friends for a few days) then taking easyJet to Spain. Aer Lingus allows 36 kg of checked baggage, and our bags appear to be just a bit under that weight limit, but they definitely won't make the easyJet max weight of 20 kg.
We figure the best option is to fly everything to England, then ship the excess baggage to Spain. (From what I can tell, if I ship from the UK -- at least via Royal Mail -- I won't have to fill out a customs form and the cost will be cheaper, compared with shipping from the US.) Does anyone have experience with shipping from UK to Spain and suggestions for the best/cheapest way for us to do that?
Thank you!

Well, if your not in a rush to get the items, and they are not fragile, you can ship them via freighter... takes a long time, pack real well (also take in account it's going by sea so use plastic to keep out moisture). It's cheap, but you wont see the item for a month. It's also not real expensive to just pack an extra bag on the plane. I took all my electronic stuff as carry on and packed up 3 large bags. It's often cheaper to pay for an extra bag then the "over weight" fee.
Here is a link to Royal Mail International Delivery options:

Here is a link to International Rates & Fees Tables for US Mail (mush harder to find prices on, but it's there if you look long enough)

Also note you will need to file customs forms for the items going via mail.
Another thing is, insure it if you care about it. More so with Royal Mail, they are well known for misplacing items now and then.
The last option I know of is cargo via the airport, but you have to look in to a few places they all offer diffrent rates for diffrent days ext. Kind of like your plane tickets =)
Hope that helps even if just a bit, enjoy your trip and enjoy Spain =)

You probably have already checked out Easyjet's conditions, but they are here,
Every item of hold baggage will incur a fee (please see our carrier’s regulations (http://www.easyjet.com/EN/Book/regulations.html#baggage) for details). If your combined hold baggage weight exceeds the 20kg limit, excess weight charges apply. These have to be paid at the airport sales desk. Each passenger may check in hold baggage up to a combined maximum of 50kg.
Please note that hold baggage that hasn’t been paid for will not be accepted for travel.
Irrespective of when you fly, the maximum weight for any single piece of baggage is 32kg and no passenger may carry more than 50kg on any flight (regardless of the number of bags), for any reason.
So I guess, if you could carry it, you could take up to 50kg per person! :)
But at £6 per kilo for everything over 20kg, it could work out expensive.
By sea would obviously be a lot cheaper, depends on how soon you would need it.

Hi EasyJet do not have a weight limit on there hand luggage as long as you can lift it in to the overhead lockers and it is in there size 55x40x20cm so if your heavy items are able to fit. Hope this helps
