Hi All,

My wife and I will be visiting Spain (Madrid and Santander) in just a few days.

I've been doing quite a bit of reading on the notes from madrid site and it has been very educational.

I just have a few questions and would greatly appreciate and feedback.

1) Where (and what type) is the best place to purchase a sim card for phone calls to be made within spain? I don' t plan on making a lot of calls, just to my spanish friends in Santander.
2) We are in town for almost five days (12/24-12/28), we had planned for a day trip to segovia, what other day trips would you recommend (toledo vs avila vs el escorial)
3) My wife is 5 months pregnant, since she will not be drinking, would it be worthwhile to "ir de tapas?" Do they serve non-alcoholic drinks at tapa bars?
4) Do most shops close early on 12/24? Are they open on 12/25 for christmas? What about restaurants?

Thanks in advance!

heya! There are several mobile providers, I think it doesnt make difference since you wanna use it only for a short time. e.g. I have movistar..
But not sure about the price, think its costs up to 20 eurs but with the same amount of credit.
For a day trip I would recommend toledo,
When you eat the tapas, of course there is an option to drink non alcoholic drinks, like coke and other stuff
And shops, dont know about xmas, but normally the supermarkets are opened till 9 or 10, some of them longer, and restaurants longer of course... You should know, that in spain the time is moved forward, what is 6pm in uk is 9pm in spain :} enjoy

That's only if Spain has suddenly been transported to East Africa. Normally, only 1 hour ahead.

Very very little will be open on 25/12, you may have to find larger hotel restaurants and bars in the center to eat in.
