Hi all,

Does anyone know anything about freshwater Angling in the Murcia region?

I would be interested to know about River and/or Lake, species, quality of the fishing, Licences etc.

Thanks in advance.

I know nothing about angling but I do know we have an extreme water shortage in the Murcia region - rivers and lakes - don't hold your breath.

Good answer :D

I guess the fish would suffer from the lack of water :D

The reason i asked was I was told there were a few commercial fisheries for Carp and Catfish. I have also seen a few rivers on the maps and I am sure I have seen bigger bodies of water from the plane flying into Murcia.

Thanks

Not too sure about Murcia, but in Mallorca the authorities are hot on fishing Licences. I went to the Conselleria d'Agricultura i Pesca in Palma to get my Licencia de Pesca Recreativa. They last for 2 years and cost about 13 euros. My father-in-law got his free because he's a jubilado. :). You'll need your passport and be prepared to run the usual gauntlet of Spanish bureaucracy.

It's worth it though, because apparently the authorites do check and issue fines.

Best wishes.
