I will be in Barcelona next weekend. Does anyone know what the taxi fare from the airport to the centre of town should be? I will be staying in the Marques Barbara.

Don't be lazy! Get the train to Sants. Or this (http://www.barcelona-tourist-guide.com/en/airport/barcelona-airport-transport.html) might help. :)

Just short of €30 - but dont do it... easy on the train - 40 mins by train matro 30 mins by taxi if the roads are running

Directions

Train from Airport to Sants - switch to the metro, Line C3 Green, four stops - Espanyol, Tarragona, Poble Sec - get off at Para-lel. Go down Carrer de San Pau, You pass the police station and a school gym and come out at the bottom of the Rambla de Raval, keep going past AMbar (may be shuttered if its daytime) and take a right on to Carrer San Ramon (dodging the hookers, many, many hookers) you come out at Pl de Marques de Barbera. I have stayed at the Hostal once. It was noisy but if youre only there for the weekend it wont matter.

If you keep walking on San Pau you come to the Ramblas...

Enjoy Raval

I had Els Tres Tombs (Metro Line 2 (Purple) Estacio Sant Antoni) opposite the mercado Sant Antoni, as my local imn August its open til 3am Fri Sat for beer and Tapas - all life passes by this corner!!

Tet a 10 ride ticket on the metro, you can also use busses with it and the funicular railway from Paral-lel to Mon Juic.
Enjoy

Thanks for those detailed replies guys. Both now printed and added to my itinerary file. It not a matter of laziness. I would like to take my time and, ideally, arrive in BCN a day or two earlier, but I have other things to do. And, unfortunately, the following Monday I am leaving for a week of Spaniard Victimising, so I won't actually have much time for sightseeing. So, quick, expedient journeys are important.
However, those prices, compared to Madrid, do seem expensive.

Hi Richard, You´re in luck, as I´ve just this minute finished doing my expenses report for January in which I´ve done the airport journey a few times. Here´s what they cost...

21,30
21,60
22,60
21,55
20,85
22,10

I live just a few blocks before you reach Plaza Catalunya when coming from the airport along Gran Via, so if you class the Plaza as the centre of town, I´d say these prices are pretty much what you can expect to pay. They were all done in clear traffic by the way, so if you´re arriving in peak hours, it might be different.

Get the Aerobus from outside arrivals. €4.20 to Urgell, Plaza España and ending up at Plaza Catalunya. Every 6 minutes apparently.
