Anyone hear of this upcoming film? What a striking resemblance the actor has with the real deal, huh? Before you let your anti-bullfighting sentiments get the best of you, Penelope Cruz is in this flick also.;)

Wow, what a dead ringer! I remember seeing an old, flickery black and white documentary on Manolete in my Spanish Culture class at the university. I'll definitely be looking forward to this film.
Having Penelope Cruz in it doesn't hurt, either. ;)

sounds like Ojos de Brujo playing in that clip. Wonder if they will also be on the movie soundtrack?

I'm really looking forward to this film.
Manolete is really a fascinating character from a time that seems so far away from now...
He is commonly referred to as the biggest matador of all times, he is the one that had more influence on modern matadors on the way of dealing with the bull on the arena.
People who saw him said that he used to stand still, completely vertical, like a post. He used to stop the furious bull whitout moving his feet. Using only his red cape the bull would just go around and around him.
He was so ellegant and misterious in the bullring, that people said that his feet didnīt touch the clay, and instead of walking, he just gently flew over it.
He died in 1947 from a bull goring. The name of the bull that killed him (named Islero) became so famous that most of the people today, who werenīt even born at the time, still know the name of the bull.
He was only 30 and he had said that he was going to retire at the end of that season.
The man is a legend, and still is.
The resemblance of Adrien Brody with Manolete is just amazing, although I find it quite odd to see a picture show of Manolete and his time in colour, instead of the black and white that goes so well for that decade and obscure time in Spain (the 40's).
There is a saying today in Spain that goes like this :
"Tener/Echar la culpa de la muerte de Manolete"
for instance :
" Me echaron la culpa hasta de la muerte de Manolete" : Meaning when someone makes you unfairly responsible for a number of things out of your control, or when someone takes the blame for something that he or she didnīt do.

Where else is she in recently besides Manolete and Volver?

Wow, Brody really looks like Manolete....
He has to work a bit that andalusian accent, though ;)

I think the likelihood that Adrian Brody develops a convincing Andalusian accent is the same for Penelope Cruz speaking with a convincing Boston or New York accent

In case anyone has the slightest doubt about how to pronounce Manolete, here is how the good folks in the IMDB forum discussed this weighty topic. :o :o :D

This (http://www.manolete-derfilm.de/index-high.html) just in!
That looks like a cool movie (though after watching the trailer, I'll bet I've just seen all there is to it -- the problem with trailers nowadays).
BTW, hola to a fellow (near-)Washingtonian!
