Hi Everyone,

Marina and I (well actually mostly me harassing Marina ;)), are really keen to do more video blogging. It's something we love, and it's been too long!

It'll be the usual format, Marina and I chatting in Spanish in front of the video camera once or twice a week, hopefully incorporating some of the phrases that are in the new book/audio guide (http://www.notesinspanish.com/store/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=113), and hopefully taking you to some interesting places in Spain and beyond every now and again.

I don't want to release it on the old "Notes in Spanish TV" feed as we haven't put anything out there for about 6 months. I want to start something new with new impetus. But we need a name for this 'show'.

Any suggestions? If we use your idea we promise to somehow appropriately reward you with a stunning NIS materials prize!!

I'll keep you posted if I think of any clever ideas, but I think you should use NIS or Notes in Spanish/from Spain in the title, so people come across it easily and recognize it as yours. You're already so popular, work it! ;) Can't wait for the video blogging. I was just thinking about those on the way home from work today, and how fun it was when we were all posting videos within one thread. Maybe we should start that up over the summer again. Qué te parece?

[quote=Ben;47087] hopefully incorporating some of the phrases that are in the new book/audio guide (http://www.notesinspanish.com/store/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=113)

I hope you do remember to do that.....I love all those phrases...most of which are completely new to me - but without actually hearing them used - it's so much harder to remember them. Having an aural reference makes all the difference!

Despite my total and utter failure to keep the video blogs coming in last year, I do really like to see the ones you guys plus the other foreros post here, so a regular video slot seems like a great idea to me.

As for names, it's difficult. I suppose using the NIS bit, and keeping it simple, you could say "Channel NIS". (Even get yourselves something like the famous 1980's "Channel 4" style spinning logo and you're really motoring...! ;))

-kQwJdVJhCs

Sticking with the 80's though, when video cameras first took off, wasn't it called something like "Vox pops" when people sat infront of a camera and talked for a couple of minutes about random stuff? Maybe "NIS Vox pops" then?

videosfromspain.com? videosinspanish.com ? in keeping with the brand? It's also got some good keywords so you can get some really nice, high, relevant SERPs on Google. I can't tell you how many times I have searched for videos from Spain on Google but it's a lot.

Why not just incorporate it into your normal blog so it's all nicely in one place? :thumbs-up:

Damn I want this prize...!!

Given that your target audience is English speakers, I think the domain should be in English... even if the videos are in Spanish.

That's my entry

Thanks so far everyone, to clarify a bit and respond to the above, it will definitely be focusing on the Notes in Spanish side of things rather than Notes from Spain, and should have 'Notes in Spanish' in the title (apparently one should ABB - Always be Branding!) It will stay under the NIS domain, no need for a new .com address or anything.

"Real Notes in Spanish" maybe?

Or maybe we just have to stick with 'Notes in Spanish TV'..

(and Molly, I agree, I hope we ALL get video blogging again!!)

jonk

@greytop - anyone can register a .tv name. Tv actually stands for Tuvalu and they signed an extremely lucrative deal a few years back to rent their domain extension to another company (verisign). It's one of the smallest countries in the world with only 12,000 or so people so the money should hopefully go a long way.

Yes, I would keep it simple, keep the branding, and go for:

NotesinSpanishTV.

I think there may be different implications with registering a domain using different suffixes, so I would just go for the tried and tested .com. It's what everyone normally expects.

I also notice the Instituto Cervantes has started a web tv channel where they've just added tv on the end of their name (cervantestv.es). Worth a look.
