My wife and I were talking and explored the idea of retiring to Spain as a possibility. That isn't for another 25 or so years but you know how you have to plan ahead. Is there anyone who could offer advice on retiring to Spain? I know most who have are europeans and have the benefit of a more streamlined process but there maybe some bits of advice usefukl anyway such as locating real estate property and anything else that was learned the hard way.

1. Plan your finances - you can never have enough! If you get this right it may only be 10 years!!!
2. Start falling out with your relatives so you won't be tempted to go back.
3. Visit as many times as you can - or is your final destination already decided VALENCIAson ?
4. When you get nearer the time rent whilst you look round and find the location that suits you. It's easier to change rental than sell and buy property. There are countless web sites for property but they never mention the fish factory next door or the fin de semana botellón at the bottom of the garden.
5. Ignore the above and just sell up and get on a plane. You'll survive.

JaJaJa, you have dummies books for everything!!!

I think it is a great idea, however it would be good to spend some holidays here before to experiment if you and your wife adapt ok to everything!

Yes, we do. And don't forget the "Complete Idiot's Guides," also.
