Long story short I have a trip to plan for September that needs to have one night in between Madrid and Barcelona in it. My parents and us will be driving from Madrid to Barcelona on a saturday afternoon, we should be on the road by two pm. We want to stop somewhere between the two cities that is nice to break up the drive. We were thinking of stopping in Zaragoza, because I've heard the historic downtown is amazing, but we're not really sure if it's the best choice. We are looking for the following:
A place that is under 100euros a night(preferably under 75) to sleep
A place that is "Spain", the look, feel and history(the parents first time here)
A nearby selection of places for tapas, or a traditional restaurant where we can catch up and linger through the night while tasting delicous treats.
Also we have a few hours the next day and most likely that night so a good selection of historic things to see would be nice.Really I know I could find something if I went and stumbled around for a bit, but we want to do something nice for them the first night, and I figure someone out there could help. It doesn't need to be a fancy place to stay, just somewhere that we can offer them a feel of Spain right away and with some of the rich history included. Oh and we're big time foodies. The whole week that they are here all were planning on doing is cooking, so any tips on the food would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for the help!
