Has anyone had the pleasure (or displeasure...) of experiencing the Tortilla Sacromonte, known as one of the signature dishes of Granada?
"The Sacromonte is made with fried and breaded brain, lamb or veal testicles, potatoes, red pepper and peas."
This is a dish that I am admittedly quite afraid of .....

eeeeeks. I could deal with potatoes, red pepper, and peas, but I won't eat brain or testicles, even if they are breaded and deep-fried.

Brain is very, very high in calories and fat.

I wouldn't any brain from any animal for fear of bovine-specific encephalopathy (Creutzfeld-Jacob disease or mad cow disease).

I tried fried cow brains for the first time (and only, so far) two years ago (I was eating at my girlfriend's parents house, and didn't dare to reject it) and I have to admit that they were delicious. They were cooked only with garlic (lots of garlic) and that green thing... "perejil" (...parsley?)

I'm not trying the testicles though :x

A dish we used to have as kids was brawn. Take a pig's head (or half a pig's head if you can't afford a whole one) - here in the south of England they used to be leftovers when the pig was butchered so were cheap - boil it forever - the brains and flesh form a sort of lumpy disgusting jelly stuff that lasts the family for a few days. A cheap, wholesome and disgusting meal! I hated it as a kid & couldn't even contemplate it now as an adult. But hey at least we ate.

Yes, perejil = parsley.

Thank you Edith, I looked it up in the dictionary after I wrote the post...
I should have done it before.

No problem, you're welcome! :)

BTW, do you know this on-line dictionary by WordReference.com? I always use it on the forums because it's quicker than consulting a 'real' dictionary:

Yes, I know it thanks to NFS. I have to add the link to my "favoritos", it's very useful.
