How long would a pata last if kept at home with chunks out of it? Also are there any recommendations for good places to buy for delivery to the UK?

You might get some answers in this thread (http://notesfromspain.com/forums/showthread.php?t=766&highlight=jamon). Glad your typing finger still works! How's life treating you these days?

Hi Alan,
They last at least 3 months if you take care of covering it well after slicing a bit of ham, but you have to be careful as in a very humid environment it might get mouldy quicker. But don't panic, if that happens you can remove one slice and eat the ones after that one.
Unless you plan to make a big party:), I would suggest buying a "paletilla", or front leg, as it is smaller 5 to 6 Kg instead of the 8 of a back leg, so you are more likely to eat it before it goes off.
Bon appetite!!

That's why I suspect it wouldn't last long out here in Holland. But, knowing myself, it wouldn't last long anyway! :D
