I asked on my favourite Spanish motorcycle forum and I'm afraid the answer was no (http://debates.motos.coches.net/showthread.php?p=1535464#post1535464), the last hire place in Galicia closed ten years ago... Here is another post (http://debates.motos.coches.net/showthread.php?t=36846) in Spanish I started in there about hiring in Spain, and I know BlaferMotos (http://www.blafermotos.com/principalin.htm) rents them in Madrid.

Have you done any motorbike touring in Spain before?

No, Ben
I am keen to do a couple of weeks in the second half of May.I live in Dublin. There is also the option of bringing my own bike down but that would mean spending a couple of days on French motorways that could be spent in far better ways in Spain. I have been looking at rental from Madrid and Malaga. Maybe thats what I'll do. Have you any general advice and maybe you know of some guides to motorcycling in Spain?

I don't know of any specific guides but for maps I highly recommend the orange Michelin regional maps (http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/redirect?link_code=ur2&tag=booksonspainc-21&camp=1634&creative=6738&path=external-search%3Fsearch-type=ss%26index=books%26keyword=michelin%20spain%2 0maps)

Just look for the roads that are highlighted in green, these are the scenic ones, and generally they really are very beautiful. Malaga wouldn't be a bad place to start as you would have the whole of Andalusia in your reach - white villages, twisty mountain roads, wild coasts (Costa de la Luz) and guaranteed heat!

no ben..

Ten years ago I signed on at Motorcyclist magazine and began commuting to work on a motorcycle (http://chopperfanatic.com/) over the busiest freeways and streets of Los Angeles. In those 10 years of commuting, two staff members had commuting accidents, neither of which caused significant damage or pain. That's five to seven editors riding to work every working day for 10 years. If we were the survey panel, the conclusion would be that commuting on a motorcycle is an extremely safe way to get to work. And with the proper skills, it can be.

A reply to a three year old question, is that a record?
