The judiciary should make a strong statement by handing down a heavy sentence if these people are found guilty. There are so many cases though where fires have started just because of pure stupidity/negligence. A cigarette thrown or a bbq in the countryside that wasn't put out properly.

this seems to be a Europe wide problem. I was listening to something about fires in Greece the other day and I have seen similar incidents in Calabria in Southen Italy. Sadly it seems to be the case that many of these fires are started deliberately by people hoping to benefit from clearing the forest.

What a disgusting crime. And I'm saying it in a polite way! >:D These people don't seem to care about anything - humans, animals or our planet Earth.
