In the conversation Ben says "Y me acuerdo que en la tienda tenía...".

Marina corrects him saying: "había".

Why is tenía wrong here?

If I'd said "Y me acuerdo que la tienda tenía.." (without en), it would have been fine, meaning "And I remember that the shop used to have..."

But I was trying to say "And I remember that in the shop there used to be...", so the verb haber, for there is or there are, is better....

Does that make any sense?!
