Just when you begin to think that everyones out for what they can screw you for something happens that restores your faith.
Every Saturday I travel to Leeds to see my mum and take fish and chips (not crisps VS!). Yesterday I must have got out of the car and dropped my phone on the grass so I didnt hear it fall. After 20 minutes i realised it had gone and retraced my steps but no luck. I called the phone and no answer, I rang home to check that it wasnt left there but no.

Five minutes later my daughters phone rang. It was Pieter from Poland - who? It turns out that this guy was passing when my phone rang, picked it up and took a while to figure out how to unlock the keys.

We arranged to meet back at the chipshop where I had dropped the phone. I gave him a lift to the university where he had been headed before the phone incident. Turns out he was a Phd Philisiphy Graduate from Warsaw come to study in the UK. I made him have 20 quid as a reward - he could have easily sold the phione for three or four times that. A nicer guy you couldnr wish to meet.

This reminded me of a time in Benidorm some years ago when Gill and I walked off from a bar on the triangulo and left her bag behind - cash, cards ,the lot. One of the waiters finally found us about half an hour later and handed us the bag we still hadnt missed. We returned to his bar the next day and left a deccent tip.

Anyone else have similar experiences?

What a great story! Just when you think that the world can't get any more selfish, someone restores your faith. Very well done!

I once lost my wallet which had my friend's new phone number in it. Someone found it and called my friend to find out where I lived. It was posted through the door the next day. I wish he'd rang the bell. The £30 quid that was in it was still there together with all of my (stopped) cards. I'd have let him keep the £30 just for that :)

I think we can look much closer to home for altruistic services to mankind. Think of all the unpaid work that Ben puts in just so we have a virtual place to meet. To our much unsung podfather, thanks Ben.
