¡Si esta novedosa teoría resulta ser verdad parece que Proyecto Uno se va a ver obligado a cambiar el nombre y letra de su canción!

Interestingly, as part of my Lorca research, I have been trying to detect the gay slang of Spain in the 1930s as I feel sure that much of his poetry is coded for gay granadino and madrileño communities of which he was a member (poor choice of word!) for most of his life.

[So far I have been unsuccessful in identifying the code words for certain, although his frequent uses of images such as Apollo and St. Sebastián are indicative.]

I remember being amused not all that long ago to discover the acronymic origin of the word "naff" from Polari. I previously had had no idea of its original meaning.

No doubt, you will already have come across this (http://www.elcastellano.org/ns/edicion/2008/mayo/gayl.html) (no pun intended).

Thanks for the lead:thumbs-up:, I had not seen it before

What would really help would be a slang dictionary of the 1930s if such a thing exists!
