Today my new phone arrived Sony Ericsson K800i. I stick to SE cos the phones work so well with Macs. It arrived, I authorised the SIM card and within 20 mins it was up (thankyou O2).

Setting up bluetooth to my lappy took less than a minute, so now I can surf the web and get email using my mobile as a modem - strange thing is connecting this way I have never been charged for the bandwidth!!

Next the photos - very nice - set at 3 megapixels you get an image 2048x1536 - massive = 750k and the phone will carry 80 of these without any extra memory card. A real flash too!

As the latest Mac software doesnt yet support this brand new phone I downloaded the plugin that enables me to sync my address book and calendar on to the phone - bargain at £1.40

In the Mac address book you can elect send texts from your laptop via the phove - very convenient typing text messages on a full sized keyboard - you can also get your lappy to dial for you straitht from the address book. All this was a no-go at first so I called my engineer. He was in his bedroom watching telly but he came downstairs, went into the dark side of my system, altered some lines of code and it worked. He lives at home rent free so he doesnt begrudge little techy favours.

So, all systems go

The new party trick that this phone has is blogging. It will blog a picture and text straight to the internet. there is a 'blog this' option in the camera but dont use it initially - take a picture and save it then navigate to the image via the menus. Select Send > To bog and the first time you do this it will create you an account at blogger.com. You get a text message back then you need to use your computer to sign on and verify the account - just follow the instructions in the text and on screen. You can rename your blog and chose a template for display. Once all this is sorted out you can blog straight from the camera.

The camera reduces the 750k inmage to 50k and you can type a heading and body text on your phone. The text is a pain but blogging photos with short captions is a boon - takes out all that need for a usb connection when you are using public interrnet connections - you can edit the text later online at your leisure at any internet cafe....

Very nice! Looking forward to the results from your upcoming trip! Technology will make bloggers of all of us sooner or later :)

Gary,

I'm curious over this phone. Can you post some info on it like a link, picture or specs?
