I have just upgraded the forum software from vBulletin 3.5x to 3.60, making this a more secure and feature-rich place. The biggest change is the new multi-quote button at the bottom of posts. This allows you to quote several posts at once in your reply. Just hit the multi-quote button (next to quote) for each post you wish to quote, then hit 'reply' and it should all work fine - a full explanation of how this works, and how you can add quotes from other threads too, is available here (along with a list of other changes, some of which are not applicable to these forums):
http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=186803

Other changes:

- Thread pages now display 20 posts instead of 10. This had nothing to do with the upgrade but I think it works better and also makes the forum more search engine friendly (something to do with term relevancy ratios per page...)

- At the moment on each post the 'favourite place in Spain' and 'Favourite Spanish food' is missing below each of our avatar images due to changes in the upgrade process. I think the left hand column of the posts looks cleaner without this info, but what do you think, shall I stick it back in?

- The calender link is now in the footer navigation line.

If you find any more great changes in this new version, do share them here! Mostly it is about increased use of Ajax technology and little functional additions.

There's some good stuff in there. I like the "mark read" facility for each forum from the forum home page (double click the red blob icon in the LH column) as I keep forgetting where I've got to if I leave the forum for a while.
I can see some long posts using the multiple quote option however!
As to the missing info about foreros "favourite ..." I do not think they added much to the posts. Age, location possibly help understand where some posts are coming from but we can always look in profiles.

Multi-Quote
The much-requested multi-quote feature allows users to tag multiple posts that they wish to respond to by clicking a small button on each post. Once the user clicks the reply button, each tagged post is quoted.

To increase usability, by default, only posts within the current thread are automatically quoted. If you wish to quote posts in other threads with multi-quote, you simply need to click a link on the reply page, and the text of those posts will be added without a reload.
each tagged post is quoted.

Gracias tanto.

Multi-quote is used when replying in a thread. If you look at the bottom of this post there are 4 buttons, Edit, Quote, "+ and a pen on paper button. First you find the posts you want to quote in a thread, then you hit the "+ button (third along) below each of those posts, then you go to the bottom of the whole thread and hit Post Reply - you should find that a new message starts with all the quotes in place from other people's posts - try it here to see if it works :)

I have only 3 (no Edit button)*****
First you find the posts you want to quote in a thread, then you hit the "+ button (third along)
(2nd along for me)*** below each of those posts,
yes I did that and the + sign changes to - beside each of say 4 selected posts *******
then you go to the bottom of the whole thread and hit Post Reply -(I'm assuming you're referring to the button down on the LEFT)**** you should find that a new message starts with all the quotes in place from other people's posts - try it here to see if it works :)

I'm afraid it doesn't work for me; see my comments which I've interpolated above within your instructions.
In fact NO quotes appear at all - The new message starts in a blank window; I could only make your quote (above) appear by hitting QUOTE (the 1st button)instead of MULTIQUOTE.
I wonder what I'm doing wrong? :'(

I have no idea, if you have the "+ button it should work!!!

I can't see an "Edit" button either. But the + works, as you can see. Perhaps it is the order in which Margot is doing it, as, as Ben says, you have to click each + before clicking reply.

I think you can only edit your own posts. ;)

I do click each quote BEFORE hitting reply...
ah well....
Thanks Richardska, Ben et al....at least I know I'm doing it right...just one of those myserious computer annoyances. And Greytop - at least I won't be able to begin a post with an endless echo!

Margot, at the risk of incurring your ire, you don't click each "Quote" but each "+ before clicking "reply".

Richardska:
1. I really appreciate anyone even bothering to try to help with this minutiae....I'd NEVER be angry...only frustrated at not being able to do what should be simple
2. I "misspoke" in my post...I don't hit the quote button...but the one beside it (multiquote) where the plus sign turns to a minus....and then only after I've clicked each of the multiquote buttons that I want (maybe 2 or 3)- do I then hit Reply down on the left...and up pops a new window absolutely blank. ah sweet mystery of life on the internet

After you've pressed the multiquote buttons (however many you need), try pressing any of the Quote buttons on those quotes instead of the Reply button and see if that's any better.

Eldeano thanks for what I thought might be a solution...but alas alak...as you can see....the window only opened with your quote - which was the 4th one on which I had hit the multiquote button..trying your (I thought great) suggestion...I finally hit the quote button (instead of the Reply button) on yours since it was the last of the 4 multiquotes.....but the other 3 disappeared.(Again) Isn't it wierd?
