I heard the US lost to Greece after winning the previous 7 games. Is the US out altogether?

The US will play Argentina for the Bronze medal. I believe that the game will be played on Sunday.

Brian,

I can't believe we lost to Greece...that's what happens when you don't have any 3 point shooters on the team. I'm certain that the result would have been different if Kobe, Ray Allen, Michael Redd and Chauncy Billups would have played.

Definitely, we needed some 3-point shooters, but Greece is one of those grizzled veteran squads who have been playing together for umpteen years.

The American Selection was an unconventional approach this year, by omitting some of the "stars," and choosing a college coach to lead them. But, I was very pleasantly surprised at how they played DEFENSE, a shortcoming of the American squads that preceded this one.

If we think that the USA will cruise past Argentina for the Bronze, we have another thing coming. Argentina is a very physical, tough squad punctuated by NBA stars.

Even with Pau Gasol sitting on the bench with a broken foot, the Spanish team completely dominated and dismantled Greece for the World Championship, 70-49.

Felicitades!
