We have finally managed to launch notesinspanish.com (http://www.notesinspanish.com/) which means a whole host of changes!
This is where all the Notes in Spanish podcasts will be from now on.
We have our own 'store' where we will be selling all the worksheets. We will no longer be using Lulu.com for the worksheets.
We have had to increase the price of the worksheets slightly to cover the costs of PayPal's percentage and site costs. The new cost is $1.85 (just under 1 British pound).
Next week we will be launching Notes in Spanish Intermediate on the same site.We really hope you like the new site, of course NFS will continue with its own site as always. Any feedback on the new site, the worksheets store and PayPal experience in particular, and anything else that comes to mind would be really welcome! ¡Que Nervios! Many Thanks!

Check it out at notesinspanish.com

Congratulations and it all worked fine with Firefox/Windows XP. :thumbs-up:
Cost for worksheet was exactly 1 GBP at today's PayPal rate of exchange.
Another lively and interesting podcast.
Looking forward to further developments.

Will there be new separate feeds for NIS, NIS Intermediate and NIS Advanced or will we get everything in our podcatcher with the old RSS feed?

Marina

Hi Vicent,

The intermediate podcast will probably be on a separate feed, otherwise it might be annoying for the people that just want to download one of the levels. But don't worry, as soon as we publish the first edition we will give you all the details!

Yup, as Marina says more or less: NIS becomes NIS Advanced and keeps the original feed. NIS Intermediate will have a new feed when launched next week. All the feeds for NIS will be listed here:

This represents blatant commercialisation of the site - congratulations!!!

Podcast 47 appears on the home page but doesnt appear when you follow the link from the podcasts page

looks good : MacBook Pro / Firefox and Safari

Is there an option for payment in GB£ - my bank charged me a £2 transaction fee last time I paid in Dollars through LuLu - dunno if patpal will do that

Cheers - great project

Gary

Thanks Gary, I have changed the category so that no. 47 appears on the right page now. As far as know paypal won't charge you anything (they charge us, not you), but what your bank does is a different matter. I think you'll have to ask your bank about that... has anyone else noticed this with paypal payments in dollars?

UPDATE: I have made a couple of test payments with a UK LLoyds account I still have from days gone by, and I have not been charged any extra fees.

I havent tried it with PayPal but it was the case when I paid in dollars through LuLu.
I'll try it and let you know - I can scrape three quid together to suck it and see.... maybe paypal does the maths and charges me in GB£

Ben,

Well done on the new site. I look forward to the intermediate podcasts.

Slight problem, i can only seem to get podcast 47 through iTunes, and not from the site?

Anyone else got this problem?

Cheers

Works for me from the site. Did you try 'play in popup' as well?

Let us know what happens Gary, and in any case I shall ask PayPal about letting people process payments in their own currency on the PayPal site. it doesn't make any difference changing the currency in our actual store (we tried this with Euros) you still get passed to PayPal in dollars.

Congrats Ben on the launch of the new site. I'm really looking forward to the intermediate material. A couple of things: I don't see the new podcast 47 on the notesinspanish.com home page and should there be a link from notesinspanish.com to notesfromspain.com? If I've missed both then curse me and send me in the right direction. Cheers!

Very strange, I still don't see it. I cleared cache and all that but no joy. 46 is the first one. Perhaps it's just me. No worries.

Very odd. That link doesn't work for me. I wonder if my ISP is caching pages somewhere.

Hi! Ben,
I also don't see 47th episode at the top of the new page:confused:
I use Internet Explore 6.0.
And also, the direct link which you posted doesn't work for me.

I am looking forward to listening Notes in Spanish intermidiate!!

I tried on the in-laws computer and couldn't see it either, very wierd. So I changed the time stamp on the post to yesterday, and now it shows up. Have a look now and it should be there, but why on earth could that be happening? Will investigate anon...

Great. If anyone has any feedback on the store and paypal experience as well at some point, that would be really appreciated. Was it easy to navigate, was PayPal easy to use or off-putting in any way? Thanks!

Ok, purchased a copy of the latest transcript.

A couple of things. With a paypal account already, it was very easy. However, i notcied that the buying page was in Spanish. Is this ok for begginers that would want access? And dont have a paypal account setup? Although the levels are intermediate and Advanced so may not be an issue. But could limit accessibility.

Secondly, i see that you only get the link for a couple of days, and not the permanant ability to access, like with LULU, but its not a big issue for me.

So for me, it was straight forward and easy enough. :thumbs-up:

Thanks Que, I am trying to get an answer out of PayPal about how to get the PayPal page to appear in English, but they are not proving helpful so far. Tomorrow I will call them. The limit on the downloads is a security thing set by the store software - it can be altered and perhaps we should increase the time to a week, but I'm not sure permanent is an option. We added a note in the store emails in the hope people will download the worksheets straight away to their computer. Thanks for the feedback.

I have never been charged extra for currency conversion when paying USD in GBP through PayPal / credit card.
My PayPal screns are in Spanish but I thad assumed that was because I had "Spain" as country on my PC, even though language is set to English.
Many sites/software seem to have minds of their own as far as language is concerned!

Pay Pal gives problems sometimes and locks up so you do not know what stage the transaction was in. In one instance I was charged but could not download the item. PayPal resolution process worked and I got the money back without problem.
So far no problems with Lulu or Ben's new site.

As I always download the podcasts through Ipodder (Juice) it all happens automatically. I can't recommend Ipodder enough for this sort of thing. I find Itunes confusing, It never lets me go where I want to go and keeps trying to sell me stuff.
