Hola,
Thanks for asking what I would like to see on Notesinspainish.com. I like the conversations on the podcast so the more the better. I see that you have phrase of the week. I think that is great it is better than vocabulary word since it shows how to use the word in a sentence therefore you can sound more like a native. Things I would like to see perhaps chat room, grammar lesson of the week, book of the month or 2 months, actually you don't need to add anything in my opinion the podcasts are excellent.

Hi, I moved your post to a new thread as we would love to get more ideas like this for the new site (Notes in Spanish (http://www.notesinspanish.com)). Any more suggestions very welcome!

I like the phrase a week idea. Its good that you are extending in your efforts to get us speaking like the locals!
I think as well the video excercise is great. Id like to see more of these as time goes by, im sure we will see more.
However, with this sort of content growing, at the moment there doesn't seem to be a seperate navigation. It all appears in the blog/homepage bit. You add stuff pretty much everyday to either this site, or the notesfromspain, so eventually it be nice to browse by category, something like..
Video Comprehension:
..Advanced Videos
..Intermediate videos
Phrase of the week:
..Week 45
..Week 44
Podcasts:
..Advanced
..intermediate
Maybe these sort of links on the right hand side, near the subscribe and about us bit.
Im sure content will soon grow quite fast as the community grows, and the intermedite takes off. Anyway, I looking forward to hearing the intermediate podcast sometime this week!
Cheers

The video about the children smoking. It was short, and easy enough to listen to. Easily something you can do on your quick coffee break. It all helps.

Do you, well Marina really, have any young relatives neices, nephews family friends? It woas great to hear Marinas dad talk and I think it might be in=teresting to hear younger voices too, especially in the intermediate podcast.

The 2 year old niece might yet be a bit young... Could be good for an advanced episode though - she is still having trouble with clear pronounciation of a few words and I have quite a bit of trouble working out what she wants sometimes!
Good idea though Gary, any thoughts Marina?

I was thinking more teenagers - I am curious to know whether the 'am I bovvered?' culture exists - is there any 'Oh, god you just dont unerstand' door slamming?

I also thought of our lovely niece Irene, but I don't think she has the kind of language that Gary would like to hear just yet;-)))
Actually this is a difficult request as all of our friend's children are still too young.

Time to hit the arcades I guess for some investigative reporting. When I was living in Spain, it seemed like the futbolin arcade was filled with teens on Saturday mornings. I bet they will talk for food;)

This may sound like a crazy idea but I used it in teaching physics a lot and I think it has lots of applications in foreign language learning. The basic ideas is to learn a new piece of vocabulary by forming a mental image of a new word. For example I memorised the word trapicheo by forming a crazy mental picture of someone chewing a giant mouse trap. Another example: the recent word tanatorio for morgue. I formed an image of rows of beds in a sanatorium and each one containing a corpse - but gruesome I know but it works. The interesting thing is that after half a dozen recalls the need for the mental image tends to fade. So how would you exploit this on your website? How about inviting suggestions for images and taking the best ones and constructing an ever-growing list of words with suggested images. Might be worth trying it with just a few for each podcast.

This is definitely a great technique and one I have used in the past. How about starting a thread here in the 'learning Spanish' section dedicated to this (Edit: I've done this, see below!), and if it really takes off we can think about moving it over to the other site and the podcasts? I think it could really take off better than anywhere here on the forums though. Would you mind starting a thread copying your description above and setting the ball roling with some examples? Then people could add new ones in each new post?

Colgar - To Hang. Rows of hanging toothpaste.
Fontanero - A plumber. A Fountain Hero. My Plumber son likes that one.
Apenas - Hardly. Not going to tell you how I remember that one!!!!

Great! I have copied the above posts over to a new thread in the Learning Spanish section (http://www.notesfromspain.com/forums/showthread.php?t=858), could be great fun! Let's continue there!
