My wee rant about the ad Ben talks about on the main page (http://www.notesfromspain.com)

"No podemos conducir por ti"

Is that supposed to be a serious slogan?? :D It sounds like a joke. No wonder people don't take drink-driving seriously if that's the quality of the public service announcement ads. Seriously, who was paid money to think of that slogan?

I actually did rant a bit more in that post but removed the extra as it's something I have gone on about before on the blog.

What I said referred to the horrendous road death stats: what can you expect in a country where people aren't even afraid of the consequences of drink-driving? Where they know that IF they are one of the few to get breathalised at the weekend they will probably just walk away with a fine? Until the Spanish police start actively hitting motorists where it hurts for crimes like drink driving (removing licenses for a year at least and implementing BIG fines), I fear nothing will change. As you say, "No podemos conducir por ti" is pretty lame... one day they'll realise that tv ads aren't the answer - only better policing will do.
