¡Un saludazo a todos!

Two friends and I are going to be traveling through Europe this summer and our first stop is Spain. I was wondering what people had for recommendations or experiences as far as either camping or couch surfing.

Our first stop is Madrid, which will be followed by either San Sebastian or Barcelona. (any help on that decision would also be nice)

In terms of helping to decide on where to camp, I can recommend the following portal, ithere are others as well, but this is my favourite, because I find the reviews to be very informative:

Where you decide to camp, will depend on whether or not you are going to have a car. I think the best camp sites, tend to be only accessible with a car.

1.5 hours south of Barcelona, is the following campsite
http://www.torredelamora.com/

it has excellent facilities, there are forest trails nearby to walk around and through the same forest you can walk to an idyllic secluded cove. Also from here you can drive to Tarragona (20mins), a pleasant and impressive provincial capital, you can see Reus, which is good for shopping and the nearest town is 5min drive.

Generally, the rates normally shoot up during July and August, also I find that sites near to coastal areas are often more crowded and less value for money, compared to those inland -have you thought of camping in Asturias or around Santander instead of San Sebastian, there are some really nice campsites around there, (once again especially away from the coast) and in my experience the locals from Barcelona, Gijón and San Sebastian etc. are often trying to escape their cities during the summer for inland areas or small coastal resorts which are quieter and less well known.

Buen viaje.
