I am lucky that I now live in the Costa Blanca, but I still do not speak Spanish well as I am surrounded by mainly British expats. However I am determined to be able to at least hold a decent conversation with my Spanish neighbours, and keep up with my daughter who attends the local Spanish school. The intermediate podcasts are pitched just right for me and I look forward to learning lots from them to supplement my lessons.

Hola Landlady, welcome to the forum! Whereabouts do you live on the Costa Blanca?

Glad that you're here, landlady. I'm glad to hear that you're working on your Spanish. It's incredibly rewarding to be able to converse in another language! And, welcome to nfs!

Thank you for the warm welcome. I live on the largest urbanisation in the Costa Blanca Ben which is called La Marina - about 20 minutes drive from Alicante.
I should really be typing this in Spanish, but am not confident enough, (I know I would make too many mistakes)
I run a community forum for expats to the Costa Blanca area as a hobby. I do have a very small Spanish language forum to discuss the language, but it is rarely used, so no competition for your site here. My site is used mainly by residents and those with holiday homes in the Coastal areas to find out where to find the best menu del dia etc. I have been living here with my family for four years now and am ashamed to say that I am still struggling with the language, but can at least get by now in non complicated conversations. Many British people who live here don't make that much of an effort to learn Spanish as they don't need to:( It seems crazy, but it is difficult in my area to find anyone to practise with on a regular bases, and unfortunately the local Spanish Villages don't seem to offer things such as evening classes in various hobbies where I could join in alongside the Spanish. At least our young daughter will be multi-lingual when she leaves school with English, Spanish, some Valenciano and hopefully French under her belt.:thumbs-up:

Welcome to the forum, Jan. Fancy naming a whole district after Ben's better half!
